The airtightness leak detector mainly uses purified and dried air as the working medium to test the sealing performance of the test chamber with a certain volume. It can also be connected in series or in parallel for other tests. However, gas-liquid two-phase flow systems and gas-solid two-phase flow systems cannot be tested directly, otherwise it may lead to incorrect test results or irreparable damage to the instrument.

The detection accuracy or sensitivity of the airtightness leak detector is largely related to the pressure transducer used in the instrument. Specifically, it is related to the resolution error of the pressure transducer. For example, the current pressure transducer resolution error is 0.01-5%. The smaller the error, the higher the detection accuracy. It is also related to the range of the transducer. For example, the smaller the range, the higher the accuracy. It is also related to the capabilities of different brands of PLC processors, because the main digital processing capability still relies on the PLC. The pressure transducer is responsible for providing the air pressure analog signal to the PLC, and the PLC converts the analog signal into a digital signal. Theoretically, the differential pressure detection accuracy can reach 1-5 PA, while the direct pressure detection accuracy is above 5 PA. Some manufacturers claim that the accuracy reaches 0.1 PA, but this is only done in the software, and the actual accuracy cannot reach this level.

Through the analysis of the current development status of airtightness testing equipment, the airtightness testing equipment is connected to a test chamber, specially designed to accommodate the packaging to be tested. The packaging is placed in the test chamber to be evacuated. Single or dual vacuum sensor technology is used to monitor the vacuum state of the test chamber at two levels, and also monitors the vacuum change during the predetermined test period. The changes in absolute vacuum and relative vacuum imply leaks and defects in the packaging.

Airtightness testing equipment is a status monitoring and detection device used to create control alarm systems or specialized testing equipment. For example, an airtightness tester and special fixtures can be combined to create a specialized machine tool for an assembly line to test the airtightness of workpieces. Common examples from our company include cylinder head leak testers, clutch cover (or assembly) leak testers, cylinder block leak testers, and transmission case leak testers for motorcycles and automobiles.
